Kansas repeals its suppressor ban

Effective July 2026, Kansas repealed its suppressor prohibition — civilian possession is now legal statewide, consistent with the NFA framework.

Kansas's old prohibition on suppressor possession is gone. The repeal took effect in July 2026.

Kansas had been listed as a suppressor-ban state for years; with the repeal, the remaining flat-ban states are California, Colorado's neighbors excepted, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island — and Washington, D.C.

Buying in Kansas is still federal-paperwork territory until the ATF's registration policy shakes out — but state law no longer stands in the way.
